“30 Years of Lost Luggage” -A live anniversary show with Lizards past and present

“30 Years of Lost Luggage” is The Austin Lounge Lizards' newest concert DVD filmed live this past February at our 30th anniversary show before a sold-out crowd at Austin's TX Union Theater. Presented in “mock-umentary” format by filmmaker Steve Mims, it consists of concert footage edited from seven cameras, introductions and Lizard interviews by Austin’s legendary DJ Larry Monroe, and impetuous musical contributions from former Lizards.

The audio portion rings astonishingly true, considering that the actual concert was recorded on multiple tracks and mixed in the studio afterwards. Also included is the bonus video "Too Big To Fail."

Nobody got hurt during the filming and production of this lustrous accolade, including animals!

Ask, How do we get "Too Big to Fail"? Featuring Conrad Deisler, Julieann Banks, Hank Card, Darcie Deaville & Tom Pittman

The Lizards' musical style features precise five-part vocal harmonies and instrumental mastery with:

Hank Card on rhythm guitar

Darcie Deaville on fiddle and mandolin

Conrad Deisler on guitar

Bruce Jones on bass

Tom Pittman on banjo and dobro

Lizards arrangements often include harmonies and instrumentals that are themselves a spoof of the conventions of bluegrass, country, rock and pop music. So it’s no surprise that band members count among their influences Frank Zappa, George Jones, Spike Jones, Flatt & Scruggs, Tom Lehrer, and Steve Goodman. Austin Lounge Lizards grew out of the songwriting relationship between Hank Card and Conrad Deisler, who met as history majors at Princeton University and started writing together in 1976. Eventually, both Card, an Oklahoman, and Deisler, a Texan, ended up at the University of Texas law school, where they hooked up in 1980 with banjo and steel guitar player Tom Pittman, who had the right academic credentials (a degree in philosophy from the University of Georgia). With the founding trio originally playing Austin and Texas dates while keeping day jobs as varied as bailiff, construction foreman and administrative law judge, the band — with various supplemental players in and out over the years  — has been touring nationally and internationally since 1987.
